Between September 1999 and April 2000 Nothwang sexually assaulted three female children who were related to him. On 05/03/00 Nothwang was arrested by the Denver Police Department for three counts of sexual assault on a child. On 02/23/01 Nothwang was convicted of sexual assault on a child in Denver County, Colorado. Nothwang has no other criminal convictions.

Nothwang was sentenced to 6 years to life in prison for the 02/23/01 conviction. Nothwang served 7.5 years in prison in Colorado. Nothwang received 6 years of sex offender treatment while in prison. Nothwang continues to receive sex offender treatment as an out patient. Nothwang is on community supervision with the department of corrections for life.
